Lesson Learned: In all my years of being in YSG, the most valuable lesson I have learned is being able to go in front of an audience and share my thoughts to others with confidence and not in fear. I am able to be open in sharing in my ideas.

Chapter: Voices of Grace

Rebekah Boyes
Lesson Learned: Having been in ICC for 7 years, and especially with the YSG program, I am learning that accepting assistance and feedback isn't bad, but is quite good. It is humbling and helpful. I've also learned that it is a gift to have people wiling to help, give constructive feedback, and encourage me along the way. If we didn't have help, we might think our speeches are great all on our own. This would make us prideful and wouldn't be true. Receiving feedback has become easier for me if I look at it and recognize that people are trying to help me succeed rather than just pointing out what's wrong. Sometimes, it is still hard for me to accept feedback, but I am working on this.

Chapter: R.I.S.E
Rena Xu
Lesson Learned: The Young Speakers Guild has really taught me how to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. I have made so many memorable experiences just by pushing myself to do something that I have not done before, and encountering situations that I have never been in. It has really taught me to just put myself out there and be willing to take any opportunity coming.
Induction Date: June 27, 2020
Chapter: CREW

Samuel Rowland
Lesson Learned: Going throught the YSG curriculum has helped me with my speaking skills. I really enjoy making people laugh and the skills I have learned have helped me to that in a fun and creative way.

Chapter: Rise

Sofia Fiorello
Lesson Learned: Mostly, ICC has just help me to step outside my box and remember that it is okay to make mistakes; that is the only way we grow. If I just stayed in my safe zone my whole life I would have missed out on so many of the amazing experiences that I have now been through. ICC has helped me so much in this area and so many others and I can't wait to continue using the skills I've been taught throughout the rest of my life.
Induction Date: January 11, 2020
Chapter: CORE

Sofia Hawk
Lesson Learned: I think that the most valuable lesson I learned through progressing in YSG was the importance of mentoring. In my chapter, it has been so helpful having people to encourage and help me as I went through YSG, and who inspired me to keep at it when it may not have been easy. Their example has encouraged me to try to do the same for others, and I think this has been the thing about YSG that meant the most to me.
Induction Date: June 14, 2020
Chapter: L.I.F.E.

Timothy Lukachick
Lesson Learned: The most valuable lesson i learned while working through the Young Speakers Guild Training Series was how to write and give a speech.
Induction Date: May 28, 2020
Chapter: Hilltop Speakers

Zachary Walden
Lesson Learned: I have learned to be confident when speaking to adults and large audiences. Throughout my journey in ICC, I also learned the importance of endurance. To me, public speaking was a very difficult task since it required me to step outside of my comfort zone. It has taken 10 years of dedication and hard work at improving my confidence in my speaking abilities and in the messages that I want to share with my audiences to reach the point I am at today. Knowing the difference between I "have" to between I "get" to is profound; it can change your attitude of public speaking.
