Lesson LearnedThe most valuable lesson that I have learned through YSG is that it is important to be open to seeing others perspective. We all bring different experiences and lesson with us into any given situation and we all think differently.

Lesson LearnedThrough all my years of ICC, I have learned to be confident when speaking to all ages and to be confident when leading a group. The most beneficial lesson I have learned is to take the initiative to step in and take charge when others need help or are intimidated to take the lead in a group of my peers.

Lesson LearnedOne of the most valuable lessons that I have learned on my ICC journey so far is actually not a speaking skill. When I first joined, I thought that ICC was just another speaking group. Suffice to say, I was wrong! I learned that what ICC really teaches is how to be the example for those around us. How it takes ordinary people and through the grace of an extraordinary God it transforms them into extraordinary leaders.

Lesson LearnedI believe that understanding how to properly analyze my audience and know what they want or need to hear is one of the most valuable lessons I've learned in the Young Speakers Guild Series. This has helped me at home because I have had to learn to read my families moods so that I can treat them accordingly.

Lesson LearnedI obtained the knowledge that if you work hard on an assignment and put the time in, you end up with a product you like. If you procrastinate and wait until the last minute, you end up with a product you don’t like. I grew and got better at public speaking. I learned how to plan things ahead of time. I’ve become a better leader and writer. I've been able to speak at various venues, like assisted living facilities and charter school classes, and most recently I was able to present my personal testimony to a large group of people who were attending a missions trip fundraiser for our family. I have helped to mentor the YCC students in my chapter. I’ve also helped my mom when she teaches Sunday school to mentor the children there.

Lesson LearnedOne of the most valuable lessons I learned going through the Young Speakers Guild is how to connect to your audience. I found this to be very important because if there is no connection, then why is anyone there? Another thing was the P3+R3=C3, which taught me how to find a purpose, prepare a script and present, and the importance of incorporating other people feedback.

Lesson Learned"If you care, you'll prepare!" is a saying that I learned in my chapter, and after having written multiple speeches for myself, and then trying to write one for my audience, the motivation, and confidence I experienced were very different! I then realized the greatest tool for a communicator for Christ is caring for our audience.
