Amanda Ng Xin En
Lesson Learned: Being in Singapore's Public School for 8 years, i never knew Public Speaking was a skill that can be practised or a platform for mentorship. During my years in public school, I picked up skills of Public Speaking from observing and listening to my parent, teachers and seniors speak but i have never found a speaker who communicates for Christ. I have learnt so much through ICC.Most importantly, i have learnt to be humble and to accept critiques others give to my speech. It is not an easy skill to smile at someone who had just said the flaws of your speech but through ICC, i have fully understood that being a good speaker, it means that i needed to be humble and to allow the flaws in my speech become the strength. As a good speaker, the most important skill its all about how your message can fully impact your listeners. ICC have truly been a joy for the past 2 years.

Lesson Learned: I learned that words are very powerful, because they can build others up or tear them down. I learned that God wants me to use my words wisely, to encourage people both on and off the platform. I also learned how to stop letting fear of embarrassment keep me from sharing my presentations with different audiences.

Chapter: Male it Known
Lesson Learned: One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is to be myself. ICC creates a safe environment in their chapters to be able to practice life long skills. I have learned my voice matters, so that I can go on platform with confidence knowing I will make a big impact to my audience. I can connect with the audience knowing I can appeal to our common humanity.

Lesson Learned: While I've learned so many incredibly beneficial lessons throughout this YSG journey, it is challenging to pick only one to elevate above the others. I’ve learned everything from how to give negative feedback in a positive way, to how to become a peacemaker. I’d have to say the most impactful instruction that has been highly inspirational personally, is the fact that we have this incredible opportunity to make a difference and positively impact many. While most people don’t want to be forced to believe or think a certain way, we have been taught to be able to communicate well, so that our ideas are not only accepted by our audience, but we are able to persuade them, and guide them to possibly see a new perspective. Even if a person has prepared extensively to present a well written speech, it will be rejected and ultimately be worth nothing if the person does not present in a spirit of gentleness. I’ve been blessed enough to learn how to communicate well at such a young age, and I’m excited to see how God is going to use this skill in my future.
