Fifteen people from three nations together for 12 days being intentional about community, learning about Pursuing Responsibility with Excellence Purposefully.
Our high-tech world enabled us to connect with mentors across the globe as they led us in devotions exploring how we can live out ICC’s 6 core values, hearing from some of ICC’s leaders about what responsibility is, with Board Member Dr. John McLean about purpose, with Mrs. Mary Gunther about intentional innovation, how to think about our response to change with Mrs. An Normand, irresistible mentoring with Jessica Grove, courageous peacemaking with Mrs. Lisa McLean, compelling cultural communication and learning to understand what it’s like to be on the other end of our words with Mrs. Nicole Ricks, exploring life-giving community with Jessica Grove, and refreshing transformation with Dr. Teresa Moon. We also had an engaging activity on culture with Mrs. Eunice Au.
We served at Willing Hearts Soup Kitchen, preparing and packing over 6000 nutritious meals and cleaning up the dishes and kitchen afterward. We engaged with the residents at an afternoon tea and activity at All Saints Rest Home, and then we did a Beach Clean-Up at East Coast Park.
Our PREP Team did chores like preparing all the meals, doing dishes, keeping the house clean and tidy, and they worked together on team projects.
It’s such a privilege to do life with these amazing students as they become extraordinary leaders. I know they will be able to apply their skills in the communities in which they are involved.
Sharing life together is hard but holy work, and by the end of EA PREP, we had grown close as a group and saying goodbye was hard.
