What to wear at IGNITE

At IGNITE, we will be in a camp environment. Casual and comfortable is the key. We are hosting the first ICCFS tournament of the year as well as having some good old fun at parties and luncheons. When dressing for the tournament, gentlemen are expected to wear casual pants or nice jeans with collared shirts. Coats or ties are optional. Ladies may wear dresses or casual slacks(to include jeans), always modest and neat, please. Dresses or skirts must be at least knee length. Don't forget to bring your cowboy boots and a big ten gallon hat -or whatever else you can find - for the Western Mountain Party on Saturday night. Check out the flyers on the bottom of the IGNITE page for the Ladies Luncheon and the Men's Muncheon themes on Sunday!! And of course, we will all be decked out in our IGNITE t-shirts on Monday.

Note to all IGNITE participants: Please NO short skirts, see through fabric, tight slacks, low cut tops, or midriffs showing. Any student not adhering to the dress code will be asked to change.

Due to the time of year and location please wear comfortable safe walking shoes suitable for winter conditions throughout the event.

Packing for IGNITE

Be sure to bring a notebook, pens/pencils, sticky notes, anything else you'd like for taking notes and/or debating.  In addition, you'll want to bring toiletries, bedding(for a twin), towel and a Bible. Bedding will not be provided in the cabins at the Winter Retreat. All cell phones and MP3 players need to be off and away during the day's activities and sessions.

ICC Forensics Society Tournament

IGNITE ICCFS Registration

All students will be participating in the ICCFS Tournament. You can view descriptions of each event here. You may notice new ICCFS events and the new Public Forum resolution, all of which will be available at IGNITE.

New Script Submission Forms have been posted to our pages here. Check those out.

If you are new to ICC, we recommend students participate in the debate coaching track. We'll be talking about the how to construct a Public Forum debate case, how to approach the new topic for the debates, as well as many speaking tips.

If you registered for the debate coaching track,  bring a one minute analysis on the following debate topic:

Resolved: That for the United States the benefits of increasing the use of nuclear energy outweigh the risks.

Along with your analysis, bring two articles that affirm the pro side and two articles that affirm the con side of the resolution. Check out some helpful information about Public Forum debate here.

If you'd like to add or change speech events, email iccfs@iccinc.org.

  • We encourage anyone who is eligible to be a Student Evaluator to serve in that way and experience this leadership role at IGNITE.

Optional Homework Challenge

We invite students to get involved in studying and impacting their communities in this year's homework challenge. If you're out of time, don't worry. It is optional. But if you can fit it in, all the better! We can't wait to see where this challenge leads you!

There are three levels in this homework challenge, depending on how much time you can invest in this project. Learn all about it here.
