The National Convention is ICC's premier exclusive event for Chapter Members. If you are a part of a Chapter then this event is for you! Don't miss out on the event of the summer: National Convention. The Future is now. Get ready. 

 

 

Event Details:

  • A Thursday - Friday program called "Young Cultural Communicators" is currently being designed for Chapter members ages 6-10. More details will be released as available.
  • All eligible Student Leaders may register for special Student Leader competition and forums. Watch for details!
  • Workshops for students currently being planned include:
    • YSG helps
    • Peer-coaching
    • Public Forum
    • ICCFS event how-to's
    • Student Leader forums (current and prospective)
    • Adapting to different audience
    • Teaching public speaking to younger students
  • Workshops for Chapter Sponsors/parents currently being planned:

Housing Options

  • Double Studio (4 available) – Sleeps two - Full kitchen, sitting area, one bathroom and two single beds. A maximum of 5 people are allowed per Studio if they provide their own mattress.  $80 per night. $400 for the week. Bedding/lines are not provided. (1 remaining)
  • Single Bedroom (2 available) – Sleeps one - Full kitchen, sitting area, one bathroom and one single bed. A maximum of 3 people are allowed per Studio if they provide their own mattress.  $40 per night. $200 for the week. Bedding/lines are not provided. NO LONGER AVAILABLE
  • Double One Bedroom Suite (9 available) – Sleeps two - Full kitchen, sitting area, one bathroom and two single beds. A maximum of 6 people are allowed per Studio if they provide their own mattress. $90 per night. $450 for the week. Bedding/linens are not provided. (2 remaining)

Attire

  • Gentlemen: dress slacks, collared shirts and ties. Coat is optional.
  • Ladies: dresses or dress slacks, always modest, please. Dresses or skirts must be at least knee length.   

Note to all conference participants: Please NO jeans, t-shirts, shorts, mini-skirts, see through fabric, tight slacks, low cut tops, or midriffs showing. Also, leave gum and hats at home. Any student not adhering to the dress code will be asked to change.

Banquet attire: You may wear your Convention attire or something semi-formal.

"The Future is now. Get ready!" Theme Party attire: Come dressed as a favorite time traveler, character from science fiction, or visionary inventor.

Coaches

We have a very special schedule designed just for you! There will be classes designed especially for coaches every instructional time block, as well as a Coaches Luncheon and Round Table.

Interns

You are receiving your own communication. Make sure you know what is expected of you.

 

 

Homework

For Convention students ages 11+:

Bring a 60 second introduction of yourself, including Credibility (explaining some sort of communication experience that you possess), and Connection (something that helps the audience identify with you, like a fun fact).

 

For Students ages 6 - 10 (in Young Cultural Communicators Training):

  1. Bring a small personal prop that can be used in a speaking activity. e.g., a small toy
  2. Bring a short, 30-60 second introduction of yourself (your name, age, why you like communication, some fun fact about yourself, etc), on a note card.
 

 

Additional information

T-shirts: On Tuesday, once you are finished with the competition, those with a Convention t-shirt may change into casual attire with their ICC Convention t- shirt. Otherwise, you are welcome to stay in Convention attire.
